Transforming the Study and Treatment of Cancer at Columbia

In 2017, Herbert and Florence Irving gave a transformative gift to Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian to dramatically advance research and clinical programs for the treatment of cancer. As the home of a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, Columbia is at the intersection of cancer science and care. Led by Anil Rustgi, MD, the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer is taking innovative approaches to expand our knowledge of cancer, such as the use of computational methods to analyze gene and protein regulatory networks that give rise to disease. Through the tandem efforts of our clinicians and researchers, we are conducting clinical trials and developing new therapies that are achieving unprecedented success in cancer patients, such as new approaches in immunotherapy.
